Our students ADORE this book (as well as book 1)! They were absolutely SO EXCITED to see we had gotten our hands on this one!
I read it aloud to grades 1-3 during our library classes, and the mysterious nature just totally hooked them! They had so many predictions of WHAT Carmella could be, questions about whether she was real, and of course, SO many thoughts about whether or not they will find her.
The illustrations are stunning, and the pages seem to GLOW, which the kids were totally enthralled by. They were mesmerized by these images, and it definitely brought up some great discussions on deep sea creatures!
What a wonderful opportunity for lessons and discussions about: the deep sea, mythical creatures, marine biology, ocean exploration, etc etc.
