As Rae makes a sandwich, she reflects on what makes up a family! Feeling safe, fun, kindness, forgiveness…. But mostly, LOVE.
The illustrations in this one are so lovely, and really give a light-hearted feel to this story. I love the addition of the dog and cat, and how even the dog can sense Rae’s big feelings in the story.
I think the ultimate message is all about how families can be different (just like a sandwich!), but the most important quality for them to have is the love they share for one another.
Synopsis: “Making a sandwich is fun and easy! And Rae knows just how to do it. The bread is like the parents, it keeps the sandwich safe and happy. The turkey is the love, the lettuce is the fun.
