Hear Me Roar! I’m a HANUKKAHsaur immediately caught my attention because I know just how popular dinosaur books are with young readers. Combining dinosaurs with a family Hanukkah celebration makes this such a unique addition to a holiday book collection.
There is so much to learn throughout this story! We get to learn about Hanukkah traditions like dreidels, menorahs, and latkes (yum!), while also learning a LOT about dinosaurs. It is such a fun combination and a great way to introduce young readers to Hanukkah traditions through a story that will ABSOLUTELY grab their attention.
I especially loved how Miles uses his huge imagination throughout the story. Each night brings another opportunity for him to become a different dinosaur, and kids will have so much fun discovering the different dinosaurs along with him (I know I sure learned a lot!!!).
The illustrations by Mel Zohar are bright, expressive, colourful, and packed with personality. I loved the diverse characters throughout the book, and there are so many words that POP right off the page in big, fun, colourful text! This is exactly the kind of book that makes for a great read-aloud in classrooms, libraries, or at home!
There is also a lovely message underneath all that dinosaur fun. Things don't always work out perfectly for Miles, but he keeps going, finds ways to help, and learns that mistakes don't have to ruin the celebration.
